Banjo Class by Mike Stahlman, Beginning/Intermediate Level, Thursday Nights at St. David’s!

Taborgrass is excited to have Mike Stahlman back this year to lead a beginner/intermediate level banjo class. We encourage banjo players to take advantage of this great opportunity.

Mike will review many of the Scrugg’s style rolls and runs and students will practice finding melodies for the songs and maybe learn a new tune or two.

Classes are $10. per session and will be held in the Grace Room at St. David’s at 7pm to 8:30pm on Thursday nights. Dates for this 5 week course are 9/28, 10/5, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16.

Upcoming Mountain Honey Shows

We have two shows we'd like for you to have on your radar.

Mountain Honey plays at Fire + Stone Sunday September 10th, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.  Join us for close harmonies and driving bluegrass banjo, with special guest, banjo great Alan Munde sitting in on a song or tune or two.

Free, kid-friendly. 3707 NE Fremont, Portland.




On Tuesday, come out to the Portland International Hostel, where Greg Stone and Linda Leavitt will perform an evening of duets, at the Summer Music in the Secret Garden Concert Series.
The show starts at 6:30, open mic between sets!

Admission is donation.  This charming venue is kid-friendly!

Scrugg’s Style Banjo for True Beginners by Gretchen Amann, Saturdays at 1pm in the Music Studio

Scrugg’s Style Banjo for True Beginners by Gretchen Amann, Saturdays at 1pm in the Music Studio.

Dates for this one hour class are 9/16, 9/23, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28.  Cost is $10. per session.


First year banjo students face the difficult task of learning the picking patterns of this style while trying to read the music assigned to them. 

Gretchen has offered to coach the student through this process by conducting this one hour class on Saturday afternoons. 

Highly recommended for true beginners.

First class for 2017/2018 season is this Saturday, September 9th at 10am

Welcome Taborgrassers!

I hope you had a great summer.

Our first class for 2017/2018 season is this Saturday, September 9th at 10am. 

We are excited to have Annalisa Tornfelt and Mike Eisler presiding at the Bluegrass Sermon at 12:45pm.

Featured music for the jammers this week is Red Wing and Head Over Heels.

Please note that there is a price increase this year for class admission to $12. 

If you are coming just to jam there is a suggested $5 donation please.
