 Hey Taborgrassers!

Still space in this weekend's Jamming Workshop and Mandolin Workshop, as well as next week's Zoom Class. 

In last week's zoom class we discussed pentatonic scales, and I invited everyone to try learning "Angelina Baker" by ear. I made some videos on both of those topics, check them out below!

Workshops! Zoom Class tonight, and a Jam Workshop and Mandolin Workshop this Saturday!

Tonight's Zoom Class will be covering Bury Me Beneath the Willow, Fireball Mail, and Angelina Baker. Saturday's jam workshop will be about all the ins and outs of playing music with other humans, and the mandolin workshop will be all about CHOP: How to get a good sound, keep your hands from tiring out, and adapt your chop to different situations.

Banjo and Jamming workshops tomorrow!

Hey pals! We've got our third weekend of socially distanced workshops at Waverly happening tomorrow! 

We've got a banjo workshop with Brian Alley, banjo player with Never Come Down and the Portland Radio Ponies. Brian's workshop will cover all the fundamentals of Scruggs-Style banjo, including rolls, chord shapes, melody playing, and linking it all together to get the hard-driving sound we're all after.

There's also a jamming workshop with Patrick and I, covering all the ins and outs of playing music with others. 

We've also got our weekly Zoom Class next Wednesday 10/28! We had some registration difficulties this week, but believe we've got things ironed out for next time. You should receive an automatic confirmation email shortly after registering, if not, please get in touch with us at taborgrass@gmail.com. This Saturday we’ve got a Jamming workshop with Patrick and Kaden covering the ins and outs of playing music with others, and a Banjo workshop with Brian Alley on the fundamentals of Scruggs-style banjo. To meet Brian, check out the video below!

We’ll also have our Weekly Zoom Workshop this Wednesday! This week we’ll cover some bluegrass standards (Fireball Mail, White Dove, and Dark Hollow) and talk about how to hear the difference between them.

Workshop this Saturday: Building Bluegrass Fiddle Solos with Annie Staninec

This Saturday, Portland's own Annie Staninec is leading a fiddle workshop at Taborgrass! This workshop will focus on how to build fiddle solos for traditional bluegrass songs. The workshop is Saturday 10/17 from 11am-12:30pm. Sign up here!
